How do you raise free chlorine levels in a pool?

To raise the level of free chlorine in a pool, follow these steps:

1. Test the pool water. Use a pool test kit to measure the current level of free chlorine in your pool.

2. Calculate how much chlorine you need to add. Free chlorine levels in pools should be maintained between 1 and 3 ppm. Use the following formula to calculate the amount of chlorine:

```
(desired chlorine level - current chlorine level) x pool volume (gallons) = chlorine needed (ounces)
```

3. Add the required amount of chlorine. Add chlorine to the pool by pouring it slowly into the skimmer while running the pool pump.

4. Run the pool pump. Allow the pool pump to circulate the water for at least 30 minutes after adding chlorine to ensure even distribution.

5. Retest the pool water. Wait at least 30 minutes after adding chlorine and then test the pool water to verify that the free chlorine level is within the desired range.

6. Adjust as needed. Repeat steps 2-5 as necessary until you adjust the free chlorine level to your desired range.
