3. Open the waste line valve: Open the waste line valve, which is usually located near the multiport valve. This will allow the water from the pool to flow out during the backwashing process.

4. Turn on the pool pump: With the multiport valve set to "Backwash" and the waste line valve open, turn on the pool pump.

5. Let the pump run for 3-5 minutes: Allow the pump to run for several minutes to let water flush through the filter, removing dirt and debris. Monitor the sight glass (if your filter has one) to check for any signs of discoloration in the backwash water.

6. Turn off the pump and reset the multiport valve: After backwashing, turn off the pump and return the multiport valve to the "Filter" or "Run" position. This will allow the pool filter to resume normal filtration of the pool water.
