1. Turn off the gas supply to the heater. This can be done by turning the gas valve to the "off" position or by closing the gas shutoff valve.
2. Remove the four screws that hold the gas valve in place. These screws are located on the front of the heater, just below the gas valve.
3. Pull the gas valve straight out of the heater. Be careful not to damage the gasket that is located between the gas valve and the heater.
4. If the gas valve is seized, it will need to be replaced. To do this, simply install a new gas valve in the reverse order of removal.
5. Turn on the gas supply to the heater and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the gas valve is now unseized and the heater should be working properly.
