What is pool gunite?

Pool gunite is a concrete mix sprayed at high velocity onto the steel rebar of a new swimming pool. The mixture consists of cement, sand, water and a small percentage of admixtures. Gunite pools are also known as "shotcrete pools" because of the shooting process used to apply the concrete mixture.

The advantages of a pool gunite pool are the strong construction and durability. However, gunite pools tend to be more expensive to build than fiberglass or vinyl liner pools.
