When does pool pump need to be backwashed?

- When the pressure gauge on the filter reads 10 psi (pounds per square inch) higher than the clean reading.

- When the water flow from the return jets is noticeably reduced.

- When the water in the pool is cloudy or murky.

- When there is a build-up of debris or dirt on the filter grids or in the skimmer basket.

- When the pool pump motor is running hot.
