How can you get rid of the pond skippers in a pool?

Prevention

* Keep your pool covered when not in use. This will prevent pond skippers from laying eggs in the water.

* Regularly skim the surface of the pool to remove any debris that may attract pond skippers.

* Keep the pool water clean and balanced. Pond skippers are more likely to breed in dirty, unbalanced water.

* Use a pool chemical that contains a larvicide. Larvicides kill pond skipper larvae before they can mature into adults.

Removal

* If you do find pond skippers in your pool, you can remove them by hand or with a skimmer net.

* You can also use a chemical treatment specifically designed to kill pond skippers. Be sure to follow the directions on the product label carefully.

* Keep in mind that pond skippers are attracted to light. Remove any lights around the pool during periods when its not in use.
