A Swimming Instruction For Better Health

One of the health problems known as asthma has no real cure, but health experts believe that that the life threatening effects of this health problem can be reduced if the lungs are strong. A lot of swimmers in the world of sports actually say that that main reason they got into swimming is because they were told by their physicians that the best way to minimize the effects of asthma is through the exercise of swimming. But more than just an effective treatment for asthma, swimming has a lot of other benefits that can help us all.

Swimming training, especially for older people, can instantly reinvigorate them and make them feel younger. Studies reveal that people within the 50 to 70 age bracket who regularly swam (two to four days a week) do not struggle with back problems which are typical health issues for folks of their age. Apart from the fact that swimming is effective in improving flexibility, it's important to mention that a swimming workout is truly not like other exercises. According to a report shared by Discovery Health, "it has the ability to work your body without the harsh impact to the skeletal system. When the human body is submerged in water, it automatically becomes lighter" -- meaning the body carries just 50% of its original weight. And if a person submerges his body all the way to the neck, he would only carry about 10% of his own original weight as the water takes care of the other 90%.

It is for that exact reason that people who have suffered injuries that require rehabilitation for mobility are recommended to have swimming exercises. And it is also the exact reason why people who suffer from other mobility problems and ascending forms of paralysis are advised by their physicians to take up swimming in order to get back strength in the limbs because swimming will not put too much pressure on the joints.

Other health studies have also shown that swimming can also help post-menopausal women who are prone to osteoporosis from hormonal imbalance; it helps them gain more strength in their bones. It will be important to note, however, that a proper swimming instruction should be sought out to prevent the stretching of the body in the wrong way which can adversely affect the posture. Through a proper swimming instruction, women who are undergoing this phase can gain the full benefits of their swimming exercise.

Yet another benefit of swimming which does promote better well-being is that it can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in women by up to 40%. Going for half an hour of swimming each day makes for a great aerobic exercise that can easily make the heart much stronger and much more efficient at pumping blood through our body.

There are still so many other benefits to taking up swimming as a sport or even just a form of daily exercise, and as studies continue to be conducted to determine its impact on health, there will likely be more advantages to be added to the long list of ways this water sport promotes better overall health.
