Swimming coaching requires a step by step process to learn how to teach and the steps on how to teach someone to swim. Given below is a head start for new coaches or trainers.

When you have a new student the first thing you need to make sure is that he is comfortable in the water. Someone who panics in water will make no progress to swim. Start in the shallow end and practice treading in water first. Learning to hold their breath and then opening eyes under water is the next step. Then help to start floating.

Once your student is comfortable with water and is floating while keeping his face down, teach them to start kicking while afloat. Ask your students to tilt their head so that they are not looking down but forward. Start with fluttering kicks, keeping the ankles flexible. Then start with his arms, gradually rotating back and forth while slowly starting the stroke.
