How to Do a Railslide on Snow Skis

2016/7/23 16:38:37

Rail-slides are important to a freestyle skier's arsenal. Many people feel intimidated by rails, so you will look really cool if you can do them well.

Steps

  1. 1 Find a low, straight, flat rail. It shouldn't be round or kinked for your first rail. Make sure it's low enough to stand over, so falling won't be as painful.
  2. 2 Approach the rail with enough speed to do a 90 degree spin in the air. Do your spin and land on the rail.
  3. 3 Make sure you land with the rail under your boot, preferably directly under the ball of your foot.
  4. 4 Keep both of your arms in front of you to help maintain your balance.
  5. 5 Don't lean in any direction. Keep your skis flat and as close to perpendicular to the rail as possible. The worst thing you can do is lean back (uphill).
  6. 6 To dismount, jump near the end of the rail and do a 90 degree spin in either direction, to land either forwards or backwards.
