How To Ski A Box Rail

When learning how to ski a box rail, it is important to practice. The chances of being able to learn how to ski a box rail the first time you jump on it are extremely small. Just like when you began skiing, it started off foreign and then it began to feel more natural. This is the same with skiing on a box rail.

1. 90 degrees to the left or right. The trick to learn how to ski a box rail is to turn 90 degrees in one direction when you jump. You can go either to the left or right, whichever you feel more comfortable with. Ski towards the box rail and do a small jump in the direction of your choice. You need to actually make it on the box rail before you can learn to ski it. This way, you can get a feel of how to begin your trick. Even though you have not completed it, you have started it.
2. Maintain your balance. Balance is very important when learning how to ski a box rail. This is because the trick cannot be completed without it. Once you have learned how to land on the box rail, you must then stay on it. Leaving one surface and landing on another can cause your weight to shift, resulting in falling. You must adjust your balance to the new surface quickly. If this is done correctly, you will stay on the box rail.
3. Practicing. When learning how to ski a box rail, you must continue to practice. This is so you can continue to get better at your trick. Even if you have mastered skiing a box rail, it is important to practice so you do not become rusty. While you might remember how to do it, it may be more difficult to execute if you haven't done it in awhile.
