Auli is a lesser known hill station compared to their counterparts - Shimla, Gulmarg and Manali. He won fame in the tourist map of India only after the formation of Uttarakhand in 2000. Since its starting day national Auli skiing championships is held every year under the Federation of the Winter Games of India during the February to March. For adventure lovers, especially skiers, late November to March is the ideal time to visit Auli. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited (GMVNL), a government agency responsible for maintenance of the ski resort, offers courses for beginners and professionals in here, to be held during 7-14 days between December and March. But one thing that you need to keep in mind is that you must carry your own warm clothes and skiing clothes as well if you want to participate heavy woollens, gloves, wind cheaters, snow jackets, snow boots, etc. are necessary.
Its snow enclosed slopes are as long as 10-20 km which best for skiing. Those not on the slopes you can opt for the cable car costs around Rs 200 (free for children under 5) and operates 8:00 a.m.-5: 00 pm (November to April). Jolly Grant, which is located near Dehradun, the closest airport is 280 kilometers. Rishikesh railway station is 264 km, serves as the adjacent train station to Auli. Taxis and buses are obtainable to reach here from Rishikesh. Tourists can opt for buses or trams to travel around Auli. Taxis can be hired from other cities and travel in here. When you here you can also go for trekking in Valley of Flowers as well which is one of the dream destination for all trekkers of the world.
