Ski Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

Heavenly Ski Resort is Lake Tahoe's premier mountain resort, straddling the border of California and Nevada. When it comes to views, this resort is at the top of my list. From the top of the mountain, you look to one side and see the sapphire-blue waters of Lake Tahoe, then look to the other side and see the dramatic views of the Nevada desert.
The area around Lake Tahoe, about an hour from Reno, boasts around twenty ski destinations. Heavenly is the marqu resort and along with Squaw Valley USA, easly garner much of the attention. The resort itself has a summit elevation of 10,000 feet, 3,500 foot vertical, 4,800 acres of skiable terrain, and 90 runs serviced by 30 lifts. Annually, they receive an average of 360 inches of snowfall and 300 days of sunshine.
A recent addition to Heavenly is an area called "The Pinnacles". Here you'll find steeps, trees, and drops. The top gets a bit bare but the area is challenging and a lot of fun! The Milky Way Bowl and Kilbrew Canyon are your choices for bowl and double diamond skiing, and the East Peak Lodge area offers lots of challenging intermediates -- Orion and The Big Dipper are especially nice.
Around the south shore of Lake Tahoe, wildlife meets the wild life. Besides the phenomenal skiing, you'll find plenty to do and see -- a show at Harrah's Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino, gambling at Harveys Lake Tahoe, a spa treatment at Onsen Salon & Spa at the MontBleu, or dinner at the Lakeside Inn & Casino.
The Embassy Suites, located within Heavenly village, offers a compelling value for your dollar. Included within the very affordable room rates is a full breakfast buffet plus a complementary manager’s reception every night. And, it's located steps away from the Gondola.
For a unique dining experience, check out The Fresh Ketch restaurant overlooking the Tahoe Keys Marina and Lake Tahoe on the south shore. It's not within walking distance from the hotels, so you'll need transportation. But it’s well worth it!!!
