Answer
Hello Jye,
Pardon the delay, its been one of those weeks where all the assessment tasks are grouped together.
The hard to getting to a major promotion is not in getting the skills or experience, but getting noticed. There are general strategies you can follow, but there is no guarantee that you can get noticed.
In the long-run, it can help to move to the US. WWE have WWE Talent Scouts looking for talent and of course, they tend to operate more in the US than overseas. Also, if you intend to work in the US, as the WWE is based in the US, it wouldn't work for you to be in Australia. This doesn't mean you cannot stay in Australia, there are benefits to sticking around, but eventually, it helps to move to where it is easier for them to notice you.
Developing your contacts is something every pro wrestler should be doing. Keep in touch with people, make friends with those you like. Contacts can help keep you informed of opportunities. They may be able to throw in a good word about you and may help give you advice or feedback regarding what your performance. The more people you know and make a good impression on, the greater the chance that someone important will hear about you.
Develop your communication skills. Be good at talking and listening. Develop your acting abilities. WWE seeks wrestlers with charisma. They want those who can draw a good reaction from the crowd- cheers or boos. The bigger the reaction, the better. WWE want people who can play a variety of roles, deliver lines reasonably well and generally entertain people. You need to be a good wrestler, but more than that, if you want to be in the WWE, you need to be a good entertainer. Work on a persona, or several personas, that show what you are capable of. You don't need to be a great actor )though that would certainly help#, you just need to have some acting ability.
Keep in mind an appropriate attitude. to better impress people Work on areas if you need to work on any. Be respectful to all, don't get cocky or impatient, Be able to take criticism and learn from it. Have good teamwork abilities. Also improve yourself. Don't push yourself too far beyond your limits- you'll have a longer career if you can learn to work smart as well as work hard.
Watch wrestling, not just WWE but other products as well. Try some of the Mexican and Japanese stuff.Try WCW and ECW. Look for moves you might be interested in using. WWE wants wrestlers with something new to bring to the table. That isn't just in terms of character and athletic ability, but also in terms of your moveset. You never know where you'll find something you like.
Wrestle in different places. You'll meet different people, #which can help with contacts) learn more about wrestling than you would if you stayed in one place, as well as learning more about the people. WWE has a global audience. You need to be good enough to appeal to fans around the world. Wrestling in different places can show you how much global appeal you have and whether certain modifications or further improvement in your wrestling skills need to be made.
Remember that impressing people takes time. If you just work shows in general and do the very best you can and constantly seek to improve yourself, then people will take notice. Maybe not immediately people in the WWE, but people that can give you opportunities will will eventually lead to an opportunity where you can impress people in the WWE. You have to work your way up to getting into a good position.
You may try to get into FCW, WWE's only Developmental territory at the moment, but since so many people try to get into this school, it is very different to get in. Financially, the cost may or may not prevent you from trying to get there. FCW does not mean you will get into the WWE, though it gives you a good position for WWE to notice you if you perform well. It can be good to try out for their Talent Evaluation Clinic when you are older and have the money to spare. It is also a good opportunity to try out for open WWE tryouts when there are held. It is hard to know when WWE hold them and it isn't often they hold them in Australia. If WWE hold Tough Enough again in the future in a year where you are eligible, that is also a good opportunity.
