Price of glory wrestling

Answer
Hello Lielie,

Price of Glory's pro wrestling training occurs at Michigan Sport Camp and pro wrestling classes run every Monday and Wednesday nights, from 7:00 to 9:00PM. You pay $100 at the start of each month. Unlike some other pro wrestling schools, there is no strict course here. That limits the details I can provide you with.

All students are involved in some way in the monthly shows- though they may not be working in the ring if one is not yet ready. Those wrestling on this shows have some added work since they have to prepare for those matches, including wrestling in character. Whilst training, you also learn about other positions in pro wrestling, including that of manager and referee- of use if one manages other wrestlers whilst being a wrestler or is a guest referee. This is in addition to roles as security, sound and other positions which give you an idea of the teamwork involved in producing and being in a wrestling show.

The quality of a show depends not just on the wrestlers but on these other positions. Knowing what they are helps wrestlers to work with the, or as with sound positions, can help one to take a greater role in shaping certain aspects of your character- like choosing to have a greater say in what theme music you have.

The monthly shows are just as much of a part of the training. Because they are real shows, you get experience in live shows and performing in front of an audience. You also learn how to play to the crowd and about heel and face tactics.

Training in the classes includes how to work safely, as well as submissions, chain wrestling, counters, basic grapples, and pinfalls. Other techniques and moves depend on whether it is in the style of the wrestler, but the school aims to make wrestlers well-rounded. Not every student is going to become a submission specialist or a talented brawler, but if the school succeeds, each student has what it takes to work in various style and build upon as they go further in their career.

Also taught is match structure and how to wrestle impromptu matches. Character development is also part of the training sessions. The classes give students the skills and knowledge they to work on the shows. The classes build up to participation as a wrestler on the monthly shows. Attitude is a focus of this school and so current behaviour and good attitudes are taught.

Wrestlers do not graduate at any set time- it depends on when they are ready. As such, the pacing isn't as strictly set as it is elsewhere. That isn't to say it cannot be challenging, but the level of challenge depends on the person.

This school tailors itself towards newcomers and because there is no set period to finish, there are students at varying levels of progress. This, coupled with the monthly shows, would promote a cooperative environment amongst students since they are a team. This isn't the case in all schools, since the tiered class-systems of some schools mean students focus more on their individual progress with less interaction with the progress of others.

That approach might work better for some students, but the approach at this school better replicates the positive working environment. Students learn about what the backstage environment in a pro wrestling promotion can be like. It is possible that this school might also teach some students what is possible in an environment without a lot of backstage politics, so it is possible some students could choose to work in environments closer to the one at this school.

If you have any other questions, I would advise asking the school, which can be contacted through this link: http://www.priceofglorywrestling.com/ under the training tab.
