Bloopers
Question
Hi again,
What are the best and/or funniest bloopers or screw ups that you can remember in wrestling?
Cheers
Answer
Hi Martin. Thanks for the question.
Probably the funniest occurred in WCW during a "Flair For the Gold" (an interview segment by Ric Flair) at a Clash of the Champions on TBS. Fred Ottman, better known as Tugboat and Typhoon with the WWF, had jumped to WCW. He was going to be revealed as the mystery partner of Sting, Davey Boy Smith, %26 Dustin Rhodes in their match against Harlem Heat, Vader, %26 Sid Vicious at an upcoming PPV. As Flair was interviewing Sting %26 Smith, they were approached by Harlem Heat and Vicious, who demanded to know who the mystery partner was.
All Sting said was that it going to "Shock the world", in reference to Ottman's new gimmick, the Shockmaster. Ottman was supposed to make a dramatic entrance by busting through a gimmicked wall on the set of the interview. When he came through the wall, he tripped and fell over a piece of lumber that was holding the set in place. A helmet that he was wearing fell off, and he scrambled to put it back on and get back on this feet. The other wrestlers were trying not to laugh, but struggled to hold back.
I guess some of the other ones would include where a wrestlers mic doesn't work. I think it's funny to watch them talk with a dead mic, and watch them get frustrated.
There was the time on Raw or Smackdown where Mick Foley cracked up the Rock during an interview segment in the ring. I can't remember if it was the same interview or not, but the Rock's sunglasses fell off one time, and Foley picked them up and gave them back to him, and the Rock just went on like nothing happened.
One recently has occurred a few times where Mr. Kennedy...Anderson, or whatever had the mic drop down to him from the ceiling, and he missed it. He covered by saying that he meant to do that.
The missed moves are always fun too, especially when it's obvious they screwed up, and the fans starting chanting "you bleeped up".
Thanks again for the question. Let me know if you have anything else.
Have a great day!
Dave
