Answer
How are you doing Nishant?

Before I answer you questions, please keep in mind that professional wrestling is a form of entertainment.  There are many people all over the world that have actors and actresses as heroes and everybody knows that their roles are just that...roles.  I can understand where you disillusion is with finding out wrestling is not a true athletic contest, but that doesn't mean to say that it's fake.  I'll try to explain that as I answer your questions.

1.  Wrestling is acting, similar to stuntmen fighting in a movie.  Wrestlers are attempting to portray a real fight without hurting each other.  If you look at wrestling from the standpoint of two men enter and both are trying to win, it is fake.  However, the slams that we take are real.  The wrestling ring is long planks of wood with a very thin mat to protect us.  The slams do hurt, but we learn how to take the abuse and how to place the person we are slamming so that it does not hurt.  We really do hit each other, but we hit each other in places where it does not do damage and we are not hitting as hard as we can, but still hitting hard.  The hard hitting adds the realism that we really do make contact.  When we miss on tv, you have to agree that it looks bad.

2.  Who is going to win and lose is pre-determined by a person called the booker.  The booker's job is to make the entire card as entertaining as possible.  On the independent wrestling circuit, once the booker tells us who will win and what method to win, the matches are left up to us to make from there.  In the WWE they have a guy called the Road Agent that helps them put together the match to keep it within the time restraints of television.

3.  Wrestling when well written and compelling characters, attract every part of society.  The poor, the rich, the political, and the religious all have people in their part of society that enjoy wrestling.  Most of the people that still watch wrestling today are able to pretend that it's still real and watch wrestling as if it was real.  The people that say that wrestling is fake and they aren't really trying to win are the ones that no longer watch wrestling.  Last year, the big wrestling companies made almost $2 billion dollars in ticket sales.  So there are alot of people that can watch it as if they were watching a play or a movie.

4.  Yes it's true that there are not alot of injuries because we are not trying to hurt each other, but injuries happen.  Injuries also don't always occur just because of a blown spot.  The wrestlers in the big shows (WWE, TNA, ROH) get hurt because they lose their flexibility or over work muscles.  More often then not they are hurt because they keep running with a sore leg and tear a hamstring.  They get hurt because they pull too hard to lift somebody and tear out a shoulder.  They get hurt because a fan spills some water near ringside and a wrestler slips and their leg gets caught under them.  Sometimes, they even get hurt and it has nothing to do with wrestling.  Weightlifting, a pickup game of basketball, working on their car or their garden at home.  Injuries happen to everybody everyday, just usually not serious.  Not letting is heal makes it serious.

5.  The match with Austin and the Rock at WM17, none of their punches were fake, in the stand that they were really making contact with each other.  As I mentioned above, we hit hard, just not as hard as we can.  Plus we hit in spots where it does no permanent damage.    The blood is real.  There are methods were we can make each other and ourselves bleed.  Fake blood is not used unless its coming out of people's mouths to show an internal injury.  Blood on the head is real.  Chair shots are real as well.  There's a way to hit somebody with a chair that doesn't hurt.  The Rock puts his hands up, I don't.  It's all in what way they were trained.  All the chair shots are real with real folding chairs.

6.  When you see the ranking systems for wrestlers in wrestling, that is done so that fans have a way to tell who is better then who.  In wrestling, you are ranked for your talent of making the crowd believe your character, believe you are really hurting somebody, and how well you connect with the crowd.  I usually get ranked high in my leagues because my heel character (bad guy) makes the crowd so angry, people pay to see me get beat up.  So I get high ranking because people pay to see me.  Those ranking are who is doing well to entertain the crowds and who people are paying to see.  If you see it in a magazine, that is their opinion.  On the WWE website, that is WWE's opinion.  As far as actual sporting competition, those mean nothing.

7.  I actually don't really watch wrestling on TV anymore, and the reason is that being a wrestler, I don't watch to be entertained by them anymore.  When I do watch wrestling, I watch it to learn from them.  Maybe a new spot, maybe a new move, or a new technique that works with crowds.  Wrestling is very cyclical (crowd interests go up and down).  For the last several years (basically since WCW went under) the crowd response has been down.  I really do hope that TNA can get their act together and challenge WWE.  Competition breeds good television.  Right now, WWE has no competition, which it desperately needs.  When wrestling begins to pick up, I might start watching again.

Thanks for all your questions and don't give up on wrestling because it's not a real competition.  Actors are ranked on how well they portray their parts and how many people pay to see them....wrestling is no different, except it's live.  Talk to you again.
