Answer
How are you doing Bharat?
Usually, the school that you receive your training from will have its own wrestling league or a working relationship with a local league for the students to work at. There are a very few exceptions. So I am going to continue this answer as if the school where you are training has a working relationship with a league.
Once you get some matches under your belt with the league you are working with, you can start researching other leagues in your area on the internet. Send emails, phone calls, and tapes of your matches to the other leagues and talk to the promoter about bringing you in. Once you start getting dates for wrestling shows that you can work, make sure you keep the dates on a calendar, so that you don't miss them or book yourself for two places at the same time. You should always show up for your matches. Otherwise you get a bad reputation as somebody that will not show and that makes getting booked much harder.
After a couple of years, you can start sending your tapes out to more established leagues. If you are able to get on with more established leagues you might have to travel more, but usually the exposure outweighs the cost. If you get a good reputation for your wrestling and your showing up when booked, some of the more established leagues may even pay you to fly in...but that is a while down the road.
If you can manage it, you can get yourself booked everyday if leagues are running everyday of the week. However, I would recommend no more then matches per week. Your body will need time to rest and usually a day or two after a long weekend (3-5 matches in a weeked) is enough rest time to recover and heal. Also, make sure you have enough wrestling gear (one pair of boots and two to three sets of wrestling tights) to do three matches a week. If you have a break in between each booking, always wash your tights and pads. Besides not showing up when scheduled, bad hygiene will not get you booked again. You should always bathe, brush your teeth and be clean. If your character is that you are a dirty person, be a "clean" dirty person. Another good trick of the trade is to take a breath mint about 10 minutes before you go to the ring. When you are talking with each other, bad breath will make it more difficult to work with.
There are many wrestlers who wear lifts in their boots. Besides Chris Jericho, Hulk Hogan used to wear lifts so that he would look taller then 6'4". Lifts are a very common part of wrestling, but the heights vary. I wear 2" lifts in my boots. My lifts are for stability when I walk the top rope. Some wear lifts for more height, some for cushioning, and some for stability and balance. When you get lifts in your boots, walk around with them in the ring for about an hour. This would include running the ropes and doing basic maneuvers and bumps. The lifts will mess you up in the beginning, but about an hour or two after you start wearing them and you will be good to go.
Thanks for your question and good luck with your training.
