Question
QUESTION: How come wrestlers have to change their name when they go from one organization to the next. I saw tna and the pope I know was eliza burke when he was in ecw, but r truth kept his name when he went from tna to wwe. Also do you think wrestling fans know that certain wrestlers were other characters like kane when he was issac yankem dds in the early days of wwe or do you think that they dont really know that. I have been a fan of pro wrestling since 1978, I have watched wwe-nwa-wccw-awa and i also use to get florida wrestling but it was shown late night just cant think of what channel it use to be on. I was living in ny at that time. last question other then tna and wwe, what wrestling organizations are still out there and can be watched on tv.
ANSWER: Well, the reason they have to change their name is because of trademark reasons. The WWE can't get total control of a name a wrestler owns, they can if they completely own it. Like The Undertaker, obviously that is not his real name, it's Mark Calloway. But, no one knows him by his real name, the world knows him as The Undertaker. Which means the marketing and what not makes the WWE more money.
They have to change it when they leave the WWE because the WWE owns that trademark. So guys like Christian who left the WWE and went to TNA Wrestling years ago, had to go by his Indy name he used before and owns, Christian Cage.
Burke didn't own his name either, the WWE did, so when he went to TNA, they did what the WWE did in that they gave him another name they would own.
And actually, Ron Killings was Truth's name in TNA. When he was last in the WWE before his TNA run, he was K-Kwick. Then when he came back, he was R-Truth. That's how he is marketed, and that's how he will always be seen in the WWE. Many know his name is Ron Killings. But no one says Ron "The Truth" Killings when he walks out to the ring, ya know? So, the WWE once again owns the name.
I'm not sure anyone knows that Kane was Issac Yankem DDS, lol. I think only diehard fans know him as that. He's just been recognized as Kane for so many years and in the WWE with that name. Plus it has been marketed so well, if he changed it, no one would know who the heck it was.
People like Randy Orton use their own name because of the family connection. The WWE can use that very well, so that's why many sons and daughters use their family name. Like Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Jr.
I don't get why the WWE is making the two kids on NXT change their names to something totally different when they even say in the video package that they are the sons of former WWE stars.
Like Joe Hennig is going by Michael McGuillicuty or something like that. And in the video package, he talks about being Curt Hennig's son. So, I really don't get that. People talk about how a wrestler goes by another name to create his own legacy, but shouldn't you not recognize that he's the son of Mr. Perfect to do that? Kinda dumb huh?
It depends on where you're from on what shows are on TV, and of course, why kind of cable package you have.
But, here in America they do show Independant shows later at night on your normal channels like FOX, NBC, and CBS. But, it depends on where you live for that. Not all states do it, mine does however.
Also, HDNet, which is a channel owned by Mark Cuban and is mainly a sports channel, has ROH Wrestling on it every Monday Night at 8/7c. They used to be on Saturdays, but changed to Mondays because of how popular they were for the small network. If you have DirecTV, and have the Choice package or up, you should have the channel. Don't know what it is for DISH Network or other cable packages however.
Hope this helped, let me know if you have any other questions!

QUESTION: what was going to be the story for Vince McMahon being blown up in the limousine, if chris beniot didn't do what he did.
Answer
The storyline wasn't in full development, they hardly ever are at the beginning. They just have a beginning plan, then go from there to figure out what they want in the end, the middle part takes some work.
Rumor has it that Paul London was going to be the guy who rigged the limo to explode and kill McMahon. He would have rivaled the McMahon family, and gone on some kind of crazed rampage. He would have had a crazy bomb crazy gimmick.
If you saw the video of when Vince was walking to the limo, London was smiling. Now, many thought that was London being a jackass like always. He smiled ALL THE TIME, still does. No one knows why most of the time either, lol. But, he was moved there and told to smile.
Some thought this was a plant to throw you off to "think" it was London who rigged the limo to explode, but it would turn out to be someone else. They never wrote out or even came up with who that was. It could have been Chris Benoit himself for all we know now.
The ending of it was supposed to be basically how the storyline with him started after the Benoit tragedy. Vince McMahon would make a surprise appearance on RAW, shocking everyone after a long absence, then tell us the whole story about how he did it to see how his children would react and blah blah blah.
Another idea for it was that the McMahon family would find out the "killer", who would be obviously pushed for killing McMahon when you think about it business wise. But, Vince would never come back, as this would be the official end of his character on TV.
The whole thing was never really planned out as a whole, so they had many directions they could and/or wanted to go. These were just a few I knew of
