Hey Dave!! A Few ?s
Question
Whats up Dave! Long time no question/answer. How have you been? Wow I have some questions for you:)
Okay so after graduating I've decided to to go to cal state LA in the spring. I am still pursuing my dream of becoming a ring announcer. You think a minor in pyschology would compliment my major in communications. I was thinking along the way eventually, i'd become a backstage reporter and even a commentator. Any special requirements for those posistions like journalism?
Okay this is a funny one. I went to summerslam I was on the floor on the ramp. someone behind said that Melina looks different and wasn't talking about her costume lol. He said that she looks like a watered down less buff chyna and I have to agree a little Melina does look different form when she did 5 years ago. She looked better. What happened? She is still pretty but you think she had any work done on her face? Her jaw looks differnt.
Ok I know I probably asked you about this before but I think it is universally agreed that Christian is the most underrated hard working wrestler in the entire buisness! Okay maybe thats exaggerating but something has got to give! You're take. Maybe I'll hear something different because I already know about Mcmahon not viewing him as a big draw and of course him going to TNA didn't help but this guy is amazing. stays out of trouble puts on a great match with anybody and his mic skills along with fan interaction is incredible.
So alot of people seem to have a prob with the summerslam ending but I didn't maybe it was because I was there live. Sure I was against Cena at the beggining of the show but after he won me over towards the end. Of course I don't think it was neccesary for Cena to play Superman at the very end but it sent the crowd home happy and I don't think Nexus losing was neccesarily a bad thing. They were booked pretty strong imo especially Shepfield. Barret is definetly going places and maybe Gabriel but I don't know about the rest of the guys. Whats your take on the Nexus?
TNA has gone straight down the toilet. I honestly haven't watched a full show since Hogan and Bischoff arrived. Sad really. I thought they had a chance but anybody with half a brain can see that they have a better chance of going out of buisness then ever being a serious threat to wwe. I was rooting for them and I'm sorry for being so dystopic but thats just the way I see it. Your take?
Okay stick a fork in my plate I'm done for now lol. If I have anything else I will definetly let you know. Thanks Dave. Take it easy!:)
Answer
Hi Sergio. Thanks for the question. Nice to hear from you again. I am doing well...thanks for asking.
1. I guess I don't really know what the job requirements would be for the positions you're looking for. Journalism would probably be a good start, but I would definitely look into classes that deal with public speaking.
I wouldn't think the job requirements would be that extreme. As long as you have a good voice, are comfortable in front of a camera, and aren't afraid to speak in front of large crowds, you should be good to go.
2. To be honest, I didn't really notice anything different about Melina. Of course, she was out so long that I probably didn't notice the difference, if there is one. I would have to see a picture of her from a few years ago compared to a current one to see if I notice a difference.
3. I agree that Christian is not being used properly, but that being said, I do think he is still a notch below the main event talent. One thing, in my opinion, that holds Christian back a little bit is his look. He just doesn't have a very distinctive look at all, where most of the main event talent does.
Regardless, it all comes down to what Vince thinks, and he just doesn't think Christian is a guy he can push at the main event level, and draw tv ratings and PPV buys.
4. I've said all along that I didn't expect Nexus to stay together, at least not with the current group members. I expect to see at some of them heading back to FCW at some point to get more experience. Barrett, Gabriel, and Sheffield are definitely the top 3 at this point, but in case you haven't heard, Sheffield broke his ankle, so he is going to be out for a while. Now they're down to 5 members, so we'll have to wait and see if they add another member or not.
5. I honestly don't have a problem with TNA, and as I've mentioned in several other answers, I enjoy watching them more then I do WWE a lot of weeks. I'm not going to say I enjoy every aspect of TNA, but I don't with WWE either. TNA just delivered some of the best tag team wrestling I've seen in years over the past month or so with Beer Money and Motor City Machine Guns. When is the last time WWE's tag team division was worth watching?
Just because they can't compete with WWE in the ratings doesn't mean they are doing bad. There's nothing wrong with being the #2 promotion in the country. As much as I've said I wanted TNA to go head-to-head with WWE, it just wasn't realistic, but they know that now, and at least they tried. Now instead of trying to compete with WWE, they are just doing their own thing.
To sum it up, TNA is not going to compete with WWE ratings wise, but they aren't in danger of going out of business either.
Thanks again for the question. Let me know if you have anything else.
Have a great night!
Dave
