Coedy Rhodes and Other wrestlers

Question
Hello,

1 - In wrestling profession, big & muscular wrestlers always got more attention of viewers as compared to skinny or thin wrestlers. Previously skinny wrestlers were given some good outfits to "least" show of their body and made them presentable among the viewers (like HBK or Cruiser Weights). But now, the "Dashing Coedy Rhodes" is being highlighted as smart and dashing wrestler WHICH HE IS NOT, DEFINITELY.He is good looking but from muscular point of view, he sucks. Infact at Night of Champions, without wearing elbow and knee bands, he was looking pathetic. He might be a good wrestler but since his joining he failed to prove as successful solo entertainer. Also, his wrestling techniques seem to be quite old like his father and brother. He was first with Hardcore Holly, then Di-Biasi,part of Legacy and now with Drew Mcantyre (who is also a skinny). What i believe that considering his thin body WWE is not giving him good gimmicks, instead entering in a ring only wearing micro shorts is making him more UN-impressive. Do you think that he and other skinny wrestlers  who have not proven themselves with respect to technical wrestling shall be given some other presentable gimmicks?
2 - What is going on with Ted Di-Biasi? He is not in a lime light yet despite having satisfactory wrestling attributes. He worked in Marine-2 which gone disaster at box office. Although majority of wrestler's movies faced the same status but what was more unfortunate, even WWE didnt promoted it well in their house shows like what they did with the movies of KANE, CENA and AUSTIN. Ted was rumored to be turning face against Randy Orton, the feud was also started for short time but i dont know why this angle had been stopped even when his movie was about to release. release. WWE itself bombarded their own production, may be on the sake of Randy Orton push. And still Ted is in a phase of surviving, some times with legacy or with Maryse, but losing matches one after another, no pay-per view appearances, no title shots. Why is this so?
3 - Bret Hart's Biography had revealed number of backstage real life disputes among the wrestlers and professional jealousies. Apart from his famous dispute with HBK and Macmohan, do u know about the conflicts among the current or previous roster. What i have heard about was between Batista with Mickie James, Batista with Booker T, Matt Hardy with Paul London (latest), Samoa Joe with number of wrestlers etc.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Ahsen.  Thanks for the question.

First off, I apologize that it took so long to answer your question.  I was having computer problems, and had to bring it in to have it repaired.  I just got it back today, and this is the first time I'm seeing this.

1.  I do agree with you about Cody Rhodes.  Since he started with WWE, I've never been a big fan of his.  I thought he was in way over his head when he first started, and even though I think he's improved a lot, he still doesn't do anything for me.  He definitely does not fit his gimmick, at least as far as his body goes.  Again, I do think his body looks better then when he first started, but it's not to the point where it fits his gimmick.

As far as Drew McIntyre goes, I don't really have a problem with him, although I would say he's a little boring.  He is very good in the ring, and the fans hate him, so he must be doing something right.

Regarding their 'skinny' body type, I think that has sort of been the trend over the past several years.  Yes, Vince McMahon has always favored taller, muscular wrestlers.  However, we don't see nearly as many wrestlers these days who look like they are about to explode, due to being juiced up on steroids.

Obviously, there have been some circumstances that basically made Vince change his approach in regards to pushing smaller wrestlers.  One is the steroid trial he went through in the 90's.  Another is the ridiculous amount of wrestlers who have died over the years. Vince generally defends himself saying nearly most who have died weren't employed with WWE at the time, conveniently forgetting when they were, a lot of them were juiced up on steroids or other drugs.  Finally, the Chris Benoit situation didn't help things either, as he was prescribed a massive amount of steroids, but supposedly never failed a drug test.

2.  I don't really know why DiBiase has had his push reduced.  I haven't heard anything about him causing any trouble behind the scenes.

I do know that Vince has been known to give younger wrestlers a big push for a while, but then pull them back.  The reason for this is he wants to give them a taste of success, but then see how they react when he pulls them back a little bit.  A younger wrestler who receives a big push can let it go to his head.  When Vince pulls him back, I think that's his way of showing the wrestler he needs to continue working hard every single day if wants to keep getting a bigger push.

It also could be that WWE is still trying to figure out which direction they want to go with DiBiase.  Regardless, I still think he has a very bright future ahead of him.

3.  Here's some of the real life feuds I can think of off the top of my head.  If there is a particular one I don't mention, let me know.

1.  Ric Flair & Eric Bischoff:  This goes back to when Bischoff was running WCW.  Flair had requested a night off from Monday Nitro, so that he could watch his son wrestle in an amateur tournament.  Flair contends that he was granted the time off, while Bischoff claims that wasn't the case.  Flair didn't appear on Nitro, and Bischoff either suspended or fired him.  Bischoff was losing control of WCW at this point, and many felt he did this to send a message to the everybody, in that if he could do this to Flair, he could do this to anybody.  When Flair returned, the situation was basically made into a wrestling angle

2.  Scott Steiner & DDP:  Again, this goes back to WCW.  Some drugs were found in the dressing room, and DDP's wife, Kimberly, said they belonged to Tammy Sytch, aka Sunny.  Sytch, who had a history of drug problems, said they weren't hers, and even volunteered to take a drug test #which she did, and passed#.

At some point, Steiner found out about this, and actually chased Kimberly out of the arena they were at.  DDP wasn't at this particular show, but the next time he and Steiner were in the same arena, they apparently went at it, and Steiner got the best of DDP.  From what I've heard, Kimberly never appeared with WCW after this incident.

3.  Edge & Matt Hardy & Lita:  This one is pretty well known.  Hardy and Lita were dating.  When Hardy was out with an injury, Edge and Lita started traveling together, and I don't think I have to tell you what happened from there.  Hardy apparently found out that Lita was cheating on him after hearing a message from Edge on her phone.

Of course, this was turned into a hot wrestling angle when Hardy returned to WWE.

4.  Bill Goldberg & Scott Hall:  I guess I don't remember the exact circumstances around this one, only that Hall made some comments on Monday Nitro that ticked off Goldberg, to the point that Goldberg ended smashing his arm through a car window, severely injuring himself.

5.  Booker T & Batista:  This occurred when Batista first started getting a big push with WWE.  Batista apparently started to get a big head backstage, and was rude to several wrestlers, and made inappropriate comments to some of the Divas.  Booker confronted him about it, and they ended up brawling, with Booker having the upper hand.

6.  Steve Austin & Hulk Hogan:  This was nothing more then a war words between the two.  Hogan called out Austin on Raw, challenging him to a match.  Austin new nothing about it, and since Austin wasn't really able to physically wrestle at that point, felt that Hogan was taking advantage of the situation and making him look bad.

Austin got his 'revenge', so to speak, at the Hall of Fame ceremony, when he took a jab at Hogan during the show, basically by saying he was going to 'open a can of whoop ass' on Hogan.

There are other real life feuds as well.  Like I said, if there is one you are wondering about, let me know, and I'll get back to you.

Thanks again for the question.  Let me know if you have anything else.  Sorry again about the delay.

Have a great night!

Dave
