Where's No Mercy and all those other ppvs that were there in 2008? What's up with all of the changes?

WWE changed their PPV structure in part as they believed that their former structure meant some PPVs were smaller than others. The changes include PPVs often being centered around one type of match. This is intended to prevent PPVs from being seen as minor by giving each a distinct selling point and style. Some of these newer PPVs don't have names that are quite as good, but they are to the point. The changes are designed to make each PPV more profitable for the WWE. It is also supposed to help the writers as it is possible to focus on using the different style of each PPV to make the various storylines around each PPV have more variety.

The replaced PPVs have been retired, but that doesn't mean they cannot be revived in future if WWE see fit, like how Saturday Night's Main Event originally aired from 1985-1992, but was brouight back from 2006-2008.
