Cena being fired if he doenst obery Barret?
Question
Raw's anonymous general manager told John Cena if he doesn't obey Wade Barret he's fired from the WWE completely. Here's my problem See the GM only runs their own show. So yes the GM could fire him from raw but only an Executive like Vince would actually have the authority to fire him completely. So why doesn't John just go to Smack Down? Raw's GM has no authority there, and if he or she does it's not shown. So is John having some form of sudden stupidity? Or did the writers forget that? I mean what's with that?
Answer
Hi Alex. Thanks for the question.
You bring up a good point, however, this is the part where wrestling fans are just supposed to look the other way and not think it about too much.
It's kind of like when wrestlers will talk backstage, say something they don't want anyone else to hear, but somehow don't see the cameras right in front of them broadcasting everything they are saying.
Cena going to Smackdown would be just too easy, if he was allowed to do that. I guess the writers probably overlooked that part, but at the same time, it would kill the whole angle if Cena just got himself fired and went to Smackdown. If anything, they could have done something to the effect of what happens when a WWE wrestler is fired for real, in that most cases there is a 90 day no compete clause in their contract. 90 days isn't exactly that long, but for the sake of the angle, they could say that Cena's Raw contract includes a longer no compete clause.
One thing I don't like about the Cena/Nexus angle is that (unless I missed something), the stipulation that Cena had to obey Barrett or be fired was not part of the match stipulation at the PPV. The stipulation was that he had to join Nexus, but the part about obeying Barrett wasn't added until the next night on Raw when Cena took out Young. That's a pretty big stipulation to throw in there after the fact.
Again, sometimes WWE and TNA insult fans intelligence by overlooking the obvious things, but at the same time, pro wrestling is entertainment, and we aren't supposed to take it that seriously.
Thanks again for the question. Let me know if you have anything else.
Have a great night!
