wrestling contract
Question
I have a friend who is a wrestler he was big in the 80's and early ninetys. He is still interested in pro wrestling but is having a hard time finding a way back into the big name wrestling companies. What would be the best route to possibly put him in contact with the right people??? Maybe he can get in again???
Answer
Hi Antonio. Thanks for the question.
Well, if he was big in the 80's and early 90's, he's probably going to have a hard time garnering attention from WWE and TNA just due to his age, especially if he hasn't wrestled for a while. Yes, there are wrestlers who are still competing in their late 40's and even 50's, but for the most part, they've been with a top promotion continuously.
If I had to give a few suggestions, one would be to try and get as much work with indy promotions as possible. At least that way, he will be wrestling consistently, and it's possible someone from WWE or TNA will notice him and offer him a tryout.
Also, if he was big like you said, he has to have contacts within the industry, possibly with someone who works for WWE or TNA. He needs to get in contact with them, and see if they can put in a good word for him with WWE or TNA management.
Last but not least, there's always FCW. He probably doesn't want to go through another wrestling school (assuming he went to one already), but that experience would help him in FCW. Also, even if he were to get a tryout with WWE, most of the time WWE sends their talent to FCW to get seasoning before signing them to the main roster. So even if he was to get a tryout with WWE, they would probably send him to FCW anyway.
Thanks again for the question. Let me know if you have anything else.
Have a great day!
