JR, Raw GM, and Undertaker
Question
Hi Dave
Hope u r doing well.
JR has been out for a long time now. I kind of miss him. Cole is good, but JR is the best. Any idea on his return.
Cole's angle has started to loose edge now. They are just not progressing with the anonymous GM. When do u think they will reveal him. Lot of people are guessing who would it be, could it be Triple H. Also, when is he set to return.
What's with Taker-Kane's angle. I was surprised to see the result at Bragging Rights. They've had every kind of match, and Taker has yet not won. Is he scheduled to win the feud at all?
Answer
Hi Vicky. Thanks for the question. I am doing well, and hope you are too.
1. As I'm sure you know, about a year ago now, JR suffered another relapse of Bell's Palsy. He took time off to recover. Just recently, he's had some some heart problems, but fortunately was able to avoid surgery.
Even before he suffered his relapse, there were rumors going around that JR was going to retire from broadcasting, or that WWE was going to reassign him within the company, as they wanted Michael Cole to be the main announcer.
On JR's blog, he was asked numerous times when he was going to return, and he basically said that he didn't plan on broadcasting anytime soon.
Recently, his contract with WWE expired, and there were a few rumors that he might go to TNA, but he pretty much shot those down. He has since signed a new contract with WWE, but it's as a consultant for the Talent Relations department.
Basically, I think his announcing days with WWE are done, at least as a full time announcer. I could see him coming back and working a few matches here and there though.
I do miss him as well, especially on the PPV's. It would be nice if he could just work PPV's, at least a few matches anyway. I wasn't really a fan of Cole, but he's grown on me, especially since he has more of a heelish attitude now.
2. I hope they reveal the GM soon. I didn't mind the angle at first, but I didn't think it would drag on this long.
I've heard several names mentioned as possibilities, but I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point. Some of the names I've heard include Triple H, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Cole, JR, Steve Austin, Bret Hart, and even the Rock.
As long as this angle has gone on, I hope WWE delivers and it's a big name.
As far as Triple H goes, no return date has been mentioned. He was originally out of action due to a neck injury (if I remember right), but during his recovery he suffered an arm injury that required surgery, pushing his return back several months.
I think there is an outside chance he will return at Survivor Series, but if he doesn't, I would guess he won't return until the Royal Rumble, which is basically the kickoff for the road to WrestleMania.
3. I haven't heard anything about Undertaker being injured or anything, but I wouldn't think with the result at Bragging Rights that he will be returning right away.
I think Undertaker will eventually end up beating Kane in the blow off match to the feud, but the question is when it will be? He's not facing Kane at Survivor Series, so again, I could see him returning at the Royal Rumble.
Thanks again for the question. Let me know if you have anything else.
Have a great night!
Dave

Hi Vicky. I just wanted to send you a quick follow-up note regarding the Undertaker.
It turns out he is injured, and could miss the rest of the year, possibly longer. He sustained a rotor cuff injury. No return date was mentioned, but I'm guessing WWE will keep him out of action as long as it takes for him to be healthy by the time WrestleMania rolls around.
Have a great night!
Dave
