Managers
Question
Do Pro wrestlers use Managers like they did in the 70's -90's? How would you become the "miss Elizabeth? of the younger generation?
Answer
Hi Erin.
Managers are not used nearly as much as they were during the time period you mentioned.
The main job of a manager is to get his wrestler over, and that usually meant doing most of the talking for him, and interfering in matches.
I think today promotions like WWE and TNA work a lot more with the wrestlers themselves as far as cutting promos go, which takes away the job of the manager. If you look at the main event talent in both promotions, in most cases they are pretty good on the mic.
As far as Miss Elizabeth goes, I wouldn't classify her as a traditional manager. She was used as eye candy as much as anything, and didn't really talk much or get physically involved in matches.
Most of the on-air female talent with WWE and TNA wrestle now, so your best bet would be to go to a wrestling school, and then hope someone from WWE or TNA notices you and offers you a tryout. There is also the Diva search with WWE, if they decide to do that again.
Have a great day!
