J.C. Dykes and The Infernos
Question
What can you tell me about my namesake and the tag team he managed calledthe Infernos..how many members and what other gimmicks did they use?
Answer
Hello J.C Dykes J.R., thank you for the question. Here is what I can tell you about your namesake, and the people associated with him. Hopefully, it's what you're looking for.
The original J.C. Dykes was the manager of a very popular Tag Team in the 1960's and 70's named "the Infernos."
The Infernos consisted of several different members who played the parts at different times. Some of those people include: Frankie Cain (a.k.a "The Great Mephisto."), Rocky and Curtis Smith, Ron Gibson, and Doug Gilbert.
Mr. Dykes along with the Infernos, helped create many gimmicks/weapons used in matches. Some of the gimmicks they're credited for creating are as follows: The Loaded Boot/mask, the "no tag" replacement done between partners, the very dangerous fireball, and more. What Mr. Dykes didn't know is that those same gimmicks he and his team helped create would still be used to win matches some thirty years later! Those dirty tactics helped J.C. lead his team to multiple Tag Team title reigns in the N.W.A. and the old A.W.A.
J.C. Dykes retired from the ring in 1976, and became a Preacher. He passed away in 1993.
J.C, I hope this helps answer your question. If you have any more questions about anything in Pro Wrestling, I will try my best to help you. As always, your questions are very appreciated.
