Sportatorium

Hi Dave.  Sorry, I forgot to ask this in the other question I asked you.

Do you know if they still hold pro wrestling shows at the Sportatorium in Dallas, where they held the World Class shows?

Hi Matt.  Thanks for the question.

Unfortunately, the Sportatorium in Dallas was demolished in 2003.  Wrestling events were held there by various promotions until the mid 1990's.  The building was in rough shape and not up to city code, and was closed for good in 1998.  After it was closed, the homeless broke into the building and were living there.  

There was some movement to try and fix up the Sportatorium and designate it as a historical landmark, but nothing ever came of it.  The buildings fate was sealed by a fire in 2001, which destroyed much of the upstairs office space.

In the Heroes of World Class Championship Wrestling DVD released several years ago, Kevin Von Erich toured the Sportatorium one last time before it was demolished.  I thought that was a pretty cool part of the DVD, which I highly recommend.
