Training Camps and Performance vs. Age?
Question
Are there any training camps local to Parkersburg, WV? Is There Such a thing as a free training camp? I am a quarter of the way through life and have had a passion for wrestling for as long as I can remember but at 25 or 26 am I starting to miss that window for a shot at a WWE or TNA contract? My body is willing and I feel like I'm entering into my prime but I have no idea on where to go or how to get the funds to get where I want. Jobs are far and few and it feels like my time's running out. Please give me some pointers on how to realize my dream!!!! It is greatly appreciated. Thank You and God Bless.
Answer
The only free camps are usually one's that aren't legit. They'll have like, a free camp to bring people in, then charge people down the line to continue training.
Some places have a free month or week of training, but usually that's it.
There really isn't any money being made if free camps are done. So, usually the only free stuff has a catch.
And they are called wrestling schools, not training camps. Usually the "camps" are for MMA. I am only correcting you because some places get very annoyed at that and MMA also wants to stay separate from Pro-Wrestling.
Here is a school in West Virgina, I'm not sure how close it is to you, but with WV actually being a smaller state in comparison to others, traveling an hour is nothing for some if not close. Trust me, I get some from Canada, India, the UK and others who travel for 5.

They are an AWA affiliate, so, that is a good thing for anyone wanting to get trained there. It basically means that training is good, they are also not going to diet off the next day.
I hardly ever trust places to send guys unless I know they are good. This place looks real good to me, so that is good.
The training is also relatively cheap and there is no contract to sign on to. I think it's $25 a session, which is not bad whatsoever. Plus they have a promotion attached to it all where you can get your experience going once trained.
Now, 25/26 is not too late. MVP from WWE was in jail for years and didn't really get into training big time until he was in his late 20s/early 30s. WWE's Batista started training around his early 30s too. He didn't make it to WWE TV until age 35.
So no, it's not too late if you start RIGHT NOW!
If you have to work odd jobs in order to accomplish your dream, do it. It's all about what you are willing to do, or can do in the end. If having 2 meals a day instead of 3 sometimes is ok with you, go for it. Or maybe only having 2 pairs of pants because you wore through all the others and can't afford any more could happen, can you work through that?
I mean, there is a lot of issues early on for guys who wanna get into this business. You may sleep on a lot of couches, or work fast food maybe. But if you're willing to do what it takes, one day you may have that one big opportunity. Which is huge.
