why?
Question
why did Vince McMahon pay Brock Lesnar 5 million for limited appearances in his company? i don't think that was a smart business decision i don't think Brock has lived up to his contract if you ask me.
Answer
Hi Devan. Thanks for the question.
Even though I think it is still too early to determine if bringing in Lesnar was a mistake or not, I will say I don't think it has been worth it so far.
I don't think it's Lesnar's fault. I think WWE made a huge mistake in having him lose to Cena right away. Cena needs some time off, and what better way to write him off of TV for a while then for Lesnar to put him out of action. It would have set up a rematch at SummerSlam, which probably would have drawn a bigger buyrate then Lesnar/Triple H. Lesnar looked like a monster heel going into the Cena match, and although he dominated the match, he still lost, which took a lot of heat off of him.
The money WWE gave him was ridiculous, but the payoff is going to be how the buyrates are for SummerSlam, and especially WrestleMania next year. WWE has to be a little concerned that the Cena/Lesnar match didn't draw as well as expected. If SummerSlam flops, WWE will certainly be second guessing their decision to bring Lesnar in for that type of money.
The limited appearances certainly don't help any. Fans get turned off when wrestlers make limited appearances. The Rock was still hugely over going into WrestleMania, but because of his limited appearances, he wasn't as over as before. A lot of fans bought into Cena when he claimed that he was always there, while the Rock never was.
So I guess we will see how it all turns out. At this point, it doesn't look all that great, but things can change in a hurry.
Thanks for the question. Let me know if you have anything else.
Have a great day!
