What are the most important and effective things to do the day of weigh-in for wrestling to stay in your weight class? For example: If you need to weigh in @ 160 and you are at 161.6 what do you do? Especially involving water weight... Any tips would be appreciated!

Well actually a funny story, my friend weighed 6 pounds above his weight class so he put on all his clothing and a sweatshirt and proceeded to jump rope in the showers with all the water running at a ver high tempture. Thats drastic measures. I would recommend you should not eat alot. No fatty foods but salad is ok but wtih very little dressing. Also, dont drink alot of water becuase that would just make you heavier. Working out the day before helps alot because i know you can drop at least 3 pounds with a wrestling work out. I guess the main thing to do is avoid food until you weigh in and then you should have 2 powerbars and a gatorade. Whatever you do, make sure your parents dont make you one of those special breakfasts cause that would increase your weight by alot. 161.6, i mean if you drink alot of water just let it flush out of your system and run a little. I'm sure you'll be fine then but remember, NO HUGE AMOUNTS OF FOOD! Good luck

Ok so this is usually when our coachs are pissed off at us. This is a 2 hour work out. We do sprints and jogs for about 6 or 7 miles. Afterwards, get a 5 min break, then start doing penn state drills. Which is the one guy does one take down and gets up and does it to the next person. Its a 3 person thing. Once you do at least 4 take down types, each for about 15 shots, then u move on to 30 min matches where you wrestle even if you get pinned. I think thats basically the most extreme thing i have done
Ive been wrestling....
