lifting in wrestling

Question
hey, im a first year wrestler and desperatly need to get stronger... before wrestling ive been lifting traditional weights like bench press and curls etc but how should i incorporate wrestling workouts and how should i balance the two exercises. thanks

Answer
Training to be a bodybuilder and training to be a wrestler are two different things. In wrestling, form doesn't matter. In fact, without worrying about form, you gain more out of the workout. Squeeze out every last repetition and don't worry about form.

An example for a 135 lbs wrestler is to bench 135 lbs 12 times and then immediately pick up two 35lb dumbells and start benching that for another 15 reps then go down to 20 lbs dumbells and bench it for another 15 reps then go down to 15 lbs dumbells.

You should ask your local strength trainer for some good workouts or visit bodybuilding.com.
