cutting weight
Question
i am 35. i currently weigh 146 before i go to bed. 3 months ago i decided to start mma. i did a lot of research and found a safe way to cut 10 pounds before a fight with a 24 hour period for between the weigh-in and the match. in a couple of months i will have my first match in an organization that only has a 2 hour recovery period between the weigh-in and the match. the 24 hour plan was based mainly on water weight. from what i understand about a dehydrated body's performance it doesn't sound like i should even think of losing 10 pounds of water weight. How much water weight can i lose without effecting my performance? how do i rehydrate? is there any side affect to using a natural laxitive before a weigh-in? i want to do this realistically and safely. thank you for your time.
Answer
how much can you lose, don't know, each body is different. obviously higher body fat can stand to lose more, but it also depends on the person. i actually always did better i thought when i cut weight because it was almost like a warm up in essence before the weigh in. so i felt like got a good hard go in and felt relaxed. if you want to rehydrate i've used pedialyte, ya ya i know what you're sayin, but look at it, its got all the things you're lookin for. electrolytes, lil bit of sugar, all the good stuff. and drink it warm, cold is no good, takes too long to warm up in your system before you can use it. laxative in my experience is sketchy, if you're gonna do it its gotta be early in the week, when you have something in you. comin up on the weighin i'm usually pretty empty of food, cuz all my stuff is really simple carbs that i use and burn up. good luck
