Wrestling training
Question
Well last year i was a freshman and i started at 189 then cut to 171, my record was 24-4 overall 16 pins 2 tech, i wrestled mostly at j.v./frosh a lil bit of varsity. and all my losses were at varsity 189s Recently i switched schools and The kids here don't seem good enough to make me better, recently i attended a tournament as varsity and got thrashed in two matches and only won one match. I was wondering if there are any camps around the O.C. area or any ways of improving my technique by myself, or just by using the available people at my school,
Answer
well if you're really interested in improving there are many ways you can take it upon yourself to improve. talk to your coach and try to change your practice routine. having two guys trade in on you will improve your conditioning. really, all the rest of the improvements will have to come from you. without having to concentrate on whether or not you're getting taken down or turned in practice you can start concentrating on other things. you can start concentrating on your set ups, your hand fighting technique, your shots(technique), finishes and defense. if you can tighten the screws on all those aspects of your game then i think you can still make some noticeable improvements. if you get on youtube and look up some matches, its a good way of exposing yourself to new techniques and then get in the room and work on expanding your repertoire and keeping yourself as unpredictable as possible. good luck
