set ups
Question
Hi, I'm having trouble setting up my double leg take down. My opponents seem to see it coming. What was your favorite set up when you wrestled? Also if the opponent sprawls, do I just have to keep driving into them? Agaisnt the cross face is it just about who's tougher??
Answer
ok, i assume you're right for ease of explination. my two favorite setups were very simple.
1. leading your right leg reach up and pretend to tie up with your right hand. yes i know you're not suppose to do that, but one time for practice won't hurt. when they lift their right arm to tie up with you. that will be the arm on your left side. you can post it and shoot a pretty clean double leg.
2. from the open(this has to happen quickly) make a fake like you're going to shoot a double. then right after that(don't even stop moving forward) shoot a double leg. i try not to hit my knees on this one because its more of a football tackle then anything.
*what the guy should do is either freeze when you fake. that should give you enough time to get in on a good double leg.
good luck.
