Where to wrestle at 40+
Question
I am 44 years old. I have kept myself in pretty good shape over the years, and now, following in my son's footsteps, I'd like to give wrestling a shot. I live in NY. Do you know where I can get lessons and if there is any program to compete for people my age?
Thanks very much!
Answer
Hey Steve,
Thank you for your question. It seems that you are following a good 'lifestyle' trend that will enable you to participate in your son's wrestling pursuits. Most top-level wrestling camps now make concessions to encourage 'father-son' combinations to participate in the camp curriculum. I am certain that there are a wealth of these camps in the NY area. As far as competition, most 'open' season tournaments have an 'open' division or 'masters' division where there is no age limit. I would just be certain that I was in the best of condition, physical, and technical, because many post-season college wrestlers also compete in this division, and are very serious about making up for a season that perhaps did not go very well. You will also want to have the best nutrition to maintain competitive edges while competing. Please check out my website for the best nutrition (http:opp.sunrider.com/healthessentials) Vita-Shakes & Sunrise & (http://rmcdonald7.qhealthzone.com) for Perfect Water & EXS Energy drinks. Good luck with your son's career and yours as well.
