first year wrestler
Question
hi, im 17 a junior in high school. I have been training at a local mma gym and decided to wrestle this year. After a week of practice we wrestled a teammate at our booster bash. I was able to keep from getting pinned the first period and control him in top position for the rest of the match, but still ended up losing 7-4. I think from lack of knowledge. Im looking for some good advice. Ill be glad to keep u posted as the season progresses. Oh by the way we have 2 weeks till our first meet. Thanks
Answer
Hey Zach,
Thanks for the question. I would recommend, first having the coaching staff analyze your strengths and weaknesses, in order to come up with a daily routine which will cut down on your learning curve. If you are already naturally dominate on top, then this might be the first order of business - as in, get on and off the mat as quickly as possible in disposing of your opponent before he realizes that you are a rookie. I would focus on balance, strength, conditioning, and quickness - these are all elements that can individually, help you gain a victory. I would also focus on the maintaining the best nutrition and hydration routine in order to have plenty of fuel in your tank and to get bigger, faster stronger - to last a little longer. Check out my sites for the best natural energy product lines. (http://healthessentials.yourbodyiswater.org) and (http://opp.sunrider.com/healthessentials)
I would also check out wrestling training info on-line (i.e. BobbyDouglas.com) or (carykolat.com)to be sure that you are getting the best instruction available for your study time. Keep me posted on your progress.
