What is the purpose of sets that are made up of broken 200s or broken 150s? Can you give me a sample set as well please?
AnswerHi Peter! It's Lanny. A broken set example might be 5 x 200 on an interval which gives a lot of rest (at least a minute between 200's) where you break the 200 into 4x50 with 10 seconds rest or 2x100 with a little more rest. These short rest breaks (10 seconds between the 50's) gives just enough time to regenerate the muscle energy compounds to swim at a faster pace.
Broken sets are therefore speed sets and give good anerobic conditoning as well as some aerobic conditioning.
