olympic pool dimension
Question
What are the olympic pool dimensions?
Answer
Mohamed,
The only set dimension of the Olympic pools is the length. They must be 50 meters long. Typically, there are 8 lanes for competing. There may be more than 8 lanes, but they only have 8 lanes utilized in the finals. Each lane is typically "at least" 5-6 feet wide. The depth of the pool also varies. International competition pools are usually "at least" 8 feet deep throughout the entire pool. There is no shallow or deep end for these types of pools.
I hope that this answered your questions. If you would like to know more about any other specifics, please visit www.fina.org. This is the international governing body for swimming and other aquatic sports.
