Diving blocks
Question
My daughter does triathlon, swims for 2 mins, runs for 1000m and rides her pony over 26 fences. The swimming has training has been going well, except for the dive, we cannot organise training locally due to insurance and no one will put blocks up, do you have the dimensions of a diving block, so we could make her own to practise on in private pool where we do not have to worry about insurance. We live in Ireland in WCork where the facilities are very bad, she goes to the nationals at the end of June and we need to practise the dive badly.
Answer
Vanessa-
sorry this has taken so long. Starting blocks are typically 18-24in(45-61cm)above the water. The width and length vary also, usually 24in(61cm) wide and the same length long. If necessary you can practice starting dives just off the edge of the pool, it's a good place to start and going from the side and transitioning to blocks is just gettin used to the little height change.
Again, sorry this took so long and I hope this helps.
