3yr old hates swimming
Question
QUESTION: I have been taking my 3 year old daughter for swimming lessons for over a year now but she has not progressed from the the first class while every other children in her class have gone to further classes every three months. She dose not seem to be putting any effort at all and it is breaking my heart. What can I do to motivate her? Shoud I just stop taking her all together because she is not progressing?
ANSWER: I hate to answer a question with a question but has she had the same teacher for all of her lessons? I found often times if a child doesn't progress with one teacher that they do better with a different personality. Please let me know if she hasn't had the same teacher and I will try to provide some tips.

QUESTION: She had the same teacher for the whole of last year and I thought the teacher was very patient with her. She now has a new teacher only because the other one has left but my daughter is still in the beginners' class.
Answer
That is great that they got a new teacher and I am happy to hear that the other teacher was patient with her. By the beginner's class do you mean preschool or level 1? My son is 3 and he is going into preschool 2. Cognitively he isn't ready for level 1 (Red Cross Standard) although he is probably on a level 2 for swimming the terminology and demanding routine is too much for him and he doesn't advance in that type of setting.
Again please let me know if you have her in a class with her aged peers. Sorry about so many questions.
