energy!
Question
Hi Mr. Weber
I practice 6 times a week for 2 hour sessions (additional weights on about 2-3 times a week.) Practices are usually about an hour after school is out. I don't know if it's my schedule that I've been going through lately (sleeping late, getting up early, being really busy, etc.) but I've found that I'm lacking energy at practices and my muscels start to ache and become tense during warm ups. It's gotten to a point where I'm not sure about how I'm going to get through practices. Like when we do stuff for time (say, 8 50's free for time), I would usually go around a 26-27, but lately I've been getting 29's and 30's. I don't know what's up. My coach told me to eat more before I come, and I've been trying that, but it has no effect. Please help!
Answer
It sounds like your doing the right things, don't get frustrated. As your muscles get tired and broken down, it affects your entire life style. As for your times, they will come back as your body adjusts to the training you are putting it through. You will go through phases like this throughout your career. Don't worry and just do your best to work through the tough spots. The only other thing you might want to do is try taking a good multi-vitamin to help keep your nutrition levels where they need to be. Don't eat too close to practice, that puts energy into digestion that could go to your muscles, eat 1 to 2 hours before training and stay away from sugars and those popular energy drinks.
Best of luck and don't give up
