Swim Parent
Question
Hi, I have a 10 yr old swimmer who has qualified in all events for the Age Group Champs in our state. I get so stressed out about her meets that I have trouble sleeping. Now, I am considering having my swimmer not join the next swim season. Please give me advise on how I can be a better swim parent.

RELAX--Your daughter is doing fantastic, don't stress. If she is having fun while she is doing well than there is nothing for you to worry about. As long as she is not under stress than you don't need to stress.
It is normal to get a little nervous for you daughter, but you don't want to lose sleep about her swimming. Ask around, see if you can get more involved in her competitions, like officiating, doing results, helping with corraling the smaller swimmers, anything that will keep you busy and distract you from concentrating on your daughter so much.
If she is being successful and having fun, don't punish her by pulling her out, find a way for you to calm dowm. Talk to other parents and see what they do, you aren't the only one.
Good Luck,
George
