Which Swimming Stroke

Question
Hi.  I am a 28 year old woman looking to reduce my body fat percentage and
increase overall health.  My apartment building has a pool in it and I would
like to start swimming 3/4 times a week in addition to my other workouts.  I
have avoided swimming in the past because although the rest of my body
has good proportions my shoulders and traps are much bigger than I'd like
and I don't want to do any exercise that builds them up further.  I would like
to tone my thighs and butt if possible.

Can you please suggest the strokes that will have the least effect on my
shoulder/trap size?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Answer
Melisa--
Swimming really doesn't add to the size of your shoulders and traps.  So there won't be a noticable change in that area unless you train extensively doing the butterfly stroke.  If your looking to tone up your thighs and butt, concentrate on kicking exercises, either with a kickboard or even just holding the wall and kicking.
Hope this helps,
George
