Why does water make you wet?

Water molecules are polar, meaning they have a slight electrical charge. The oxygen atom in a water molecule has a slight negative charge, while the hydrogen atoms have a slight positive charge. This polarity allows water molecules to form hydrogen bonds with each other. When water comes into contact with a surface, the polar water molecules are attracted to the surface molecules. This attraction is what causes water to "wet" surfaces
