Diving lessons for a 12 yr-old

Hi,
My daughter is 12 yrs old and has taken a couple of summer diving classes.  She
really likes it, and would like to take lessons (or join a team) now on more of a
year round basis.  Is there anywhere near San Mateo, CA 94402 for lessons?

I always love getting questions from the area that I grew up in. I was born in San Carlos and spent many, many years diving and coaching in that general area.

The place you want to go is Stanford University. There is nothing north or west of you to go to and I am sure you do not want to travel to the east bay.

There is an age group lesson program and team at Stanford. Their facility is one of biggest and best in the country. You will want to contact Ryan Wallace who coaches kids your daughters age.I used to coach Ryan when I worked at De Anza College in Cupertino. Tell him I referred you to him and he will set you up with one of the coaches there who works with new divers. He can be reached at:

Or you can just drop the pool on a weekday after school. The pool is right next to the football stadium and the baseball field. Take 101 south to Embarcadero Rd West. Go west until you cross El Camino Real and take the first left after the football stadium ( I think it is Nelson Rd) and the pool will be next to parking lot on your right.
