finding a coach
Question
Our high school diving coach decided at the end of the 2006-2007 school year that he was no longer going to coach high school diving. The school has not been successful in finding a new coach. Can you help me with some places to look for a replacement? This is in Farmington, Minnesota.
Answer
Debbie - Since I live in the Northwest I am not familiar with high school diving in Minnesota. I looked on googlemaps for your location and saw that your town is 30 miles southeast of Minneapolis where I know there are diving coaches. I did some research for you and here are some resources for you:
Try contacting www.twincitydivers.com where you can ask Jason Baumann, the head coach at the University of Minnesota, if he knows of any ex-college divers who might be interested.
Go to www.usadiving.org where you can do two things. Click on "Clubs " then "Find a Club" and click on your state. When I went there it listed a club team in your town called Dakota Dive Club. Try them. There were other clubs listed there also who might know of a coach who could do the job. You can also click on "Coach" then "Positions" There you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page where you can find info on how to post a job opening.
Go to www.minnesotaaau.org and click on "diving". This page will give you info on AAU diving in your state.
Try www.flipnrip.com This is a website devoted to providing info for divers and parents. Contact them to see if you can post a job opening.
That is all the info I have for you. Good luck in your search.
