Son interest in diving lessons

My son is a strong swimmer...has played soccer for the last 8 years..now at 15 he want s to try diving...what is the best school or club for him to join in our area?  We live near Stanford, CA.

Just go over to Stanford University Aquatic Center next to the baseball and football fields. That is where the Stanford Diving age group team trains. They have several different coaches (Rick, Head Coach, Ryan, age group coach, Brian, novice coach and Tanya).They may be on a break right now but will start up again in September after school starts. Try contacting Coach Ryan Wallace. I used to coach Ryan when I worked at De Anza College in Cupertino. His e-mail is
[email protected]. If he does not respond right away it is because he is at Age Group Nationals and when he gets back from that he is getting married.

You should have your son watch the Far Western Diving Championships to be held at Stanford on Labor Day Weekend. This will give him an idea of what boys his age are doing in the sport.

Another team is the Santa Clara Divers who practice out of the pool located in the Central Park of the City of Santa Clara off Homestead Rd (My old team). Contact Coach Pat at www.santaclaradiving.com.

Between these two teams he is sure to find the right fit with a coach.
