(springboard) diving in south africa
Question
I'm off to Sth Africa's Eastern Cape for 3 weeks over Easter 2009. My 10yr old daughter is a regional diving champion who is missing out on the Nationals this year because...we're in Sth Africa. I've been searching high and low to see if there are facilities in East London, Port Elizabeth or Grahamstown where she canget a couple of diving sessions in, but the SA Swimming Assoc website is not helpflu & I'm struggling to find any information at all. Does anyone know where there is 5m, 3m or even a 1m springboard anywhere in South Africa!? There's got to be one somewhere!

I am unfamiliar with diving facilities in South Africa but I am going to tell how to get in touch with someone who is. Jenna Dryer, a senior on the University of Miami's diving team is from South Africa. She is a world class diver who dived the past 2 Olympics for the RSA.
You need to find the website for the University of Miami Athletic Department and get a hold of the women's swim coach. They just returned from the NCAA Division I Nationals in Texas. Her diving coach Randy Ableman is still there for the Men's meet so you won't be able to call him. Keep trying all aquatic staff members or the Sports Information Director to find out her e-mail. If there is anyone who can tell you where pools are in the RSA, it is Jenna.
Good luck with your search.
