To see what a typical diving practice would look like for people in your age group, I would suggest that you go the nearest high school or club team pool and watch one. It is difficult and lengthily to explain in writing what a practice looks like. You need to see it in person. Go to the YouTube website and in the search box, type in Indiana Diving. There you will find lessons and workouts narrated by Jeff Huber, the head college coach and one of our Olympic coaches. I am sure this will help better than my explanation.
Common things worked on vary widely based on the teams ability levels in a practice. There are several ability levels that could be going on in any given practice so again this is a question that is best answered by you attending a practice and seeing for yourself.
Springboards (1 & 3 meter) are always used in practices unless the pool only has a low board. Platforms are used if the pool has them (most do not)and only by divers who want to excel in that event.
For common lingo go to www.springboardsandmore.com and scroll down to the blog section. There you will find a glossary of diving terms A to Z that will help you learn the diving language. Also at this site, click on specialty items and look for a book by Hobie Billingsley on Competitive Diving that I am sure will help you.
