Can you drain your concrete pool to clean it?

Draining a concrete pool is not recommended. Concrete pools are susceptible to shifting or settling, which can cause damage to the pool, the surrounding deck, and underground plumbing. Additionally, the rebar used in concrete pools is susceptible to corrosion if not properly protected by water and chemicals. Draining the pool removes this protection, increasing the risk of damage to the rebar and the pool itself.

For regular cleaning and maintenance, it's best to avoid draining your concrete pool and instead use a vacuum or pool brush to remove debris and dirt. By avoiding prolonged or complete drainage of the pool, you can help ensure its longevity and prevent costly repairs.
